My name is David Livingston, Word of Life Local Church Missionary to North Georgia.
Our goal is to help local churches develop vibrant youth ministries through evangelism, discipleship and leadership training. Our greatest joy is seeing adults in the local church become more effective as true disciplers of youth. We believe that students need godly examples to follow, and we are committed to the principles of 2 Timothy 2:2 and Philippians 3:17.

We hope you've enjoyed a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! As you take a moment to review what lies ahead of you in your ministry, consider that Leadership by Example (Philippians 3:17) is still the best and most biblical way for you to impact the children and youth of your local church. If you're wondering how you can be more effective in leading by example, join us on January 28 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jasper, GA, for the 2012 Checkpoint Conference.

Meet Rev. Scott Parrish
Our speaker for the general session this year is Pastor Scott Parrish, a great friend of the Word of Life ministry. Scott was born and raised in and around Dalton, GA. In 1979, at age 18, he attended the Olivia Baptist Church with a friend where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Scott immediately had a hunger to know more about Christ and to see others grow in Him. While serving as a youth leader and Deacon, he sensed God’s call to the pastorate and began preaching as opportunities presented themselves. He began preparing himself for ministry through classes with New Orleans Theological Seminary.
Scott is currently the church planter and Sr. Pastor of Emmaus Baptist Church in Dalton. His life verse is Philippians 1:6.
His passion is to see believers conformed to the image of Jesus.
What God is Doing...

"When my daughter, Katelyn, was in Kindergarten there was a little boy in the same class that wasn't very nice to her. He always picked on her. Around the same time, she received her very first WOL quiet time journal. Whenever she came to a question where she would have to write down someone's name to pray for, she'd always write down this boy's name. It took a couple of years, but he started coming to [Olympians] Club. That first year he really worked hard, and he received a bronze medal. He was so proud of his accomplishment, that he wore it to the Spring program at school that night. There he stood...standing a little taller and beaming from ear-to-ear. I will never forget how God worked in this boy's heart." |
